When you come across a brand on social media, via email, or on Google, what catches your attention?ย
Is it the fact that they use big and impressive words, or is it because the content made you feel something?ย
Did you know you have just 3 seconds to hook people in?ย
3. Seconds. Thatโs it.ย
No one is stopping for content that lacks personality, or that sounds like it belongs in a boardroom with a bunch of Gen Xers (sorry!).ย
They will, however, stop and notice content that breaks the norm, sounds different, and makes them feel.ย
So, in this blog post, youโll learn three simple changes that make your content more memorable. And dont worry, you wonโt have to change your whole content strategy.ย
Just a few adjustments can go a long way.
Show, Donโt Just Tell
If Iโm your target audience and I come across your content where youโre just telling me how great or how amazing your business is, Iโm not just going to take your word for it.ย
Iโm not going to buy from you just cause you tell me to, you need to SHOW me.ย
When you tell, youโre stating facts. For example:
- โI help overwhelmed entrepreneurs get clarity and scale their businesses.โ
When you show, youโre painting a picture:
- โThis is the 3-step clarity framework I used with a client who was stuck at $1k/month. Hereโs how she hit $5k/month in 90 days.โ (Include screenshots or a mini case study)
See the difference? The second version puts the reader inside the experience. They can see and feel how it solves their problem.
This works because people remember stories and visuals better than they remember plain information. If you want your message to stick, donโt just tell people what you offer; make them imagine what it looks like in action.
Quick tip: Next time you write a post, read it back and ask yourself, โAm I telling them the benefit, or am I showing them what it looks like in action?โ If itโs the first, rewrite until itโs the second.

And if you want an easier way to show up consistently with your content, my Notion Instagram Planner Template can help.
Instead of staring at a blank page or scrambling for ideas, youโll be able to see your posts laid out clearly, plan captions in advance, and visualize your entire Instagram strategy at a glance.ย
Learn to write in a conversational tone
How you write your content matters now more than ever. With so many people relying on AI to write their content, the way to stand out is by sounding human, real, and approachable.
Gone are the days when jargon and complex words gave you an edge. Now, they just push your audience away and make your brand feel stiff.ย
Everyoneโs tired of generic, robotic content. Everyone has become an AI detector, trying to suss out whatโs written by AI. And honestly? Most people are starting to sound the same.
So how do you stand out?
You write how you speak.
There can be a thousand fitness coaches ( and there are), but thereโs only one you. You have a unique way of speaking, thinking, and understanding the world. Your content needs to show this.ย
Writing how you speak means writing informally. Writing imperfectly. Writing conversationally, like youโre talking to a friend.
Now, this doesnโt mean you should write sloppily or purposely make mistakes. It just means your content should feel friendly, natural, and approachable.
Hereโs what I do: I literally write how I talk. Slang and all. I donโt overthink it, I donโt try to sound โprofessionalโ or โperfect.โ I just dump my thoughts, opinions, and ideas onto the page as they come out of my head.
Later, I go back and edit, but I make sure not to edit out my voice. I keep that balance between good, polished content and something that still sounds authentically me.
One creator who I think has absolutely nailed conversational content is @cassklass_ on Instagram. Her posts feel like sheโs talking with you, not at you. She doesnโt polish her words or writing; sheโs real and uniquely her. I love it!ย
Thatโs the energy you want in your own content.
How to practice this: Just write. Seriously. Whether itโs a blog post, newsletter, carousel, YouTube script, or reel caption, write down exactly what you want to say the way it comes up in your head.
Donโt overthink. Donโt force yourself to โsoundโ a certain way. Just write.
Once you do this enough times, you start to see your distinct voice, and even better, people start to notice it too.ย
Play on Emotions
Iโm not a person who is easily persuaded to part with my money. But when Topicals launched their under-eye skincare patches, I bought themโฆโฆ.and I donโt even have dark circles under my eyes.ย
So why did I buy them?ย
Because they marketed to my emotions.ย
They created a world where all the cool people had these patches. They turned it from a โmaybe skincare productโ to a trending โhot girl accessory,โ and I (along with thousands of others) bought into it.ย
They used the emotion of โbelongingโ to sell, and it worked.ย
That is the power of playing on emotions.ย
People donโt make decisions purely based on logic; they buy, click, and engage based on feelings.
Unless your product or service is literally saving lives, chances are it isnโt a strict necessity. People arenโt buying from you because they have to. Theyโre buying because they want to, or because they feel like they need it.
Your job as a business owner is to create that emotional connection.
Emotions like fear, curiosity, hope, envy, excitement, and belonging drive people to act. The more you tap into these, the more effective your content will be.
Making your content memorable doesnโt require a complete strategy overhaul. You donโt need to chase trends or reinvent the wheel. You just need to focus on being human.
Start by showing instead of telling, writing like you talk, and tapping into emotions. These three small shifts can completely change how your audience perceives your content and how connected they feel to you.
At the end of the day, relatability is what makes people trust you, follow you, and buy from you. And the good news is, you can start practicing it right now in your next post.
